Having left the Shenavall track I was heading for Loch Toll an Lochain (beneath the An Teallach ridge) but initially making my way to the small Lochan na Brathan. Before reaching Lochan na Brathan I encountered an enormous slab of bare rock about 200 metres long. Over the ridge of bare rock was the small lochan I was looking for, however over the ridge was a considerable drop and to find a convenient point of descent I walked over the entire length of this rock slab. It was very smooth in places and in wet conditions the rock would have been treacherous! For some reason I love large expanses of bare rock - perhaps because it seems to transport me back in time to ages past when all the world was bare rock and life had not yet begun.
