Read MorePhoto 508: The Cable Hut at Firemore beach, Loch Ewe, Scotland
Firemore beach and the Cable Hut, looking to Mellangaun, on the western shore of Loch Ewe in 1998. I believe that this was the location where an undersea cable to connect Scotland and the Hebridean Islands was laid in the 19th or early 20th century. However I have also heard that the cable starting from here was a transatlantic cable. I am still trying to find out what the true facts were and if anyone can shed any light on this I will be very glad to hear from them. Also, it would be interesting to know the original purpose of the Cable Hut and for how long it was in operation.
